BE IMITATORS OF CHRIST!
Therefore be imitators of God as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself for us, a fragrant offering and a sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1–2
It has been said that “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” There’s a lot of truth in this statement, but be careful, Christian, because it’s not the whole truth. In reality, imitation is much more than mere flattery.
Actually, imitation is a form of agreement. Each time we choose to imitate people, we’re essentially agreeing to be like them. In a sense, we’re saying that we approve, applaud, and agree with who and what they are.
Imitation also decreases individualism. Every time you imitate people, you are not only doing what they would do, but also not doing what you would do. It’s really a matter of sacrificing who we are in favor of someone else. It makes me wonder what we fail to accomplish when we stop marching to the beat of our own drummer.
Finally, imitation sets us up for comparison. When it becomes clear to others that we’re imitating somebody else, they will naturally compare us to that other person. Whenever you see an Elvis impersonator, you automatically compare him to “the king” (notice the lowercase “k” here). But no matter how good an impersonator may be, he can only be a second-place Elvis. In the same way, we shouldn’t settle for second place, imitating those whom God has not called us to be. Instead, we should strive to be imitators of God, which will result in a unique identity that fully realizes our potential in Christ Jesus.
It’s so important to bring this understanding into the realm of our relationships, for there is always the temptation and tendency for us to imitate our closest companions. Unless we’re imitating a Christ-like example in them, we’ll always settle for second best and sell our identity in Christ short. Let’s set our sights on Jesus because He’s the only One worthy of our adoration and imitation.

This lifestyle has immensely touched my life! Its something that I am striving for…to be like Jesus! Actually, on my blog (http://www.cm-inthequiet.blogspot.com), I speak about Being an Imitator of Jesus…
One of the reasons we are here on this Earth is to bring Salvation. And God desires for us to live, think, speak, and be just like Jesus. Why? So that when our friends & family see us they are actually seeing Jesus! We need to know Jesus so that others can be saved, the best way is to get to know Him & have a relationship w/Him! ♡
